Who
is Doug Crawford?
I have spent 34 years as a Forest Products Technologist in
the Wood Preservation and Fire Research Unit at the Forest
Products Laboratory (FPL) in Madison, Wisconsin. Working in
wood preservation for approximately 18 of those years, I have
directed research toward developing accelerated methods for
predicting laboratory and field performance.
In addition to my research at FPL, I have traveled extensively
to promote the use of environmentally friendly preservatives
to extend the service life of lumber and reduce the demand
on our national timber resource.
I have been active in American
Wood Preservers Association for more than 25 years, specifically
on the Testing and Evaluation committees.
I have also been active in the Railroad Tie Association working
to evaluate new preservative systems for the railroad tie
industry.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Jackson
State University and a Master of Science degree in Forest
Products Technology from Mississippi State University
